Speaker to highlight addiction and research

WASILLA — A community presentation by Victor DeNoble, a former researcher for Phillip Morris and the first whistleblower to testify against the tobacco industry, is at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 29 at the Grand View Hotel.

His presentation, titled “Inside the Darkside,” gives an insider’s view into the tobacco industry’s suppression of nicotine addiction research. While in the Valley, he also will do presentations titled “Drug Addiction — It’s All In Your Brain” at Wasilla and Houston high schools and Susitna Valley Jr./Sr. High School on Oct. 30. He will speak at WHS at 7:55 a.m., HHS at 9:55 a.m., and Su Valley at 1:45 p.m.

DeNoble’s visit to speak in the Valley is sponsored by United Way Mat-Su and THRIVE Mat-Su in partnership with the Mat-Su Borough School District.
