Two Birch Tree Tapping Workshops are offered April 20. The first is from 10 a.m. to noon, and the second is from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Palmer Center for Sustainable Living, 1509 S. Georgeson Drive, Palmer.

Learn to tap birch trees for sap in this hands-on class. Students will learn to:

• select good trees,

• sap the trees and care for them,

• and collect sap and cook the sap down for syrup.

Wear clothing for going outside. Cost is $10 per person and includes handouts and taps. Register and pay by April 18.
