Alaska State Fair, Inc. is currently seeking candidates interested in serving on the Board of Directors. The candidate application deadline is March 23 at 4:30 p.m.
The seven-member Board of Directors is responsible for setting policy for Alaska State Fair, Inc., a private, nonprofit, 501©3 corporation. Current directors include Kristy Bernier, President; Jon-Marc Petersen, Vice President; Jason Ortiz, Secretary; Danny Consenstein, Treasurer; John Harkey, Director; Stephen Brown, Director; and Aryne Randall, Director.
Current 2019 annual and lifetime (having joined before March 23, 2020) Fair members will vote to fill three open board seats which each serve a three-year term. Incumbents, Board President, Kristy Bernier and Secretary, Jason Ortiz are up for re-election. Long time Treasurer, Danny Consenstein is terming out after three terms with the Fair board. Directors will be elected at the Fair’s annual meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 7pm.
Directors’ responsibilities are to set policies to accomplish the Fair’s mission statement: Produce a traditional State Fair which educates and entertains Fairgoers; Provide stable finances through good business practices, statewide outreach, partnerships and hosting a variety of community, cultural and business events.
The election committee is seeking individuals who can envision the Fair as a gathering place for all Alaskans by encompassing the past, present and future, and individuals who can make the full commitment of time and self-discipline it takes to set policy.
