Each summer, the U.S. Department of Agriculture works with local organizations to provide free meals to children under the age of 18 while school is out. Here is a list of Summer Food Service locations in the Mat-Su Valley that provide meals to children:
• Children’s Lunchbox, at the Boys and Girls Club, 3700 E. Bogard Rd., Wasilla. Provides meals for children year-round. Contact (907) 297-5625 or thechildrenslunchbox@alaska.net.
• Food Pantry of Wasilla, through Aug. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Contact 357-3769.
• Department of Public Assistance in Wasilla, 855 W. Commercial Dr., through Aug. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Contact 352-4108.
