Summer Food Service programs under way

Each summer, the U.S. Department of Agriculture works with local organizations to provide free meals to children under the age of 18 while school is out. Here is a list of Summer Food Service locations in the Mat-Su Valley that provide meals to children:

• Children’s Lunchbox, at the Boys and Girls Club, 3700 E. Bogard Rd., Wasilla. Provides meals for children year-round. Contact (907) 297-5625 or thechildrenslunchbox@alaska.net.

• Food Pantry of Wasilla, through Aug. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday. Contact 357-3769.

• Department of Public Assistance in Wasilla, 855 W. Commercial Dr., through Aug. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Contact 352-4108.

• Pioneer Baptist Church in Meadow Lakes, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Contact (907) 276-6027.

• Willow United Methodist Church, Thursdays through July 26 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Contact 495-4024.
