Taste of Talkeetna this weekend

TALKEETNA — This Saturday is the 18th year for the annual Taste of Talkeetna event. Local restaurants and businesses are gathering together to offer a taste from various dishes around town. According to Kerry Walter, Administrative Assistant of the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce, it is an opportunity for locals and visitors to hop in and out of establishments to socialize and connect, bringing the community together.

“It’s a way for the community to come together and support the restaurants and get out and see each other cause we’re so busy the rest of the year we seldom see each other.”

With the purchase of a ticket, each participant has the chance to try hearty sample dishes. Eight establishments are offering dishes this year and 8 more businesses are participating, awarding prizes. Prizes will be awarded according to the ticket raffle.

Walter notes on the growing success and turn out for the event, “It really expanded outside the Talkeetna area. We really encourage people to come to Talkeetna to see life in a small village and see what we do- as a community, to support each other and have fun.”

The Taste of Talkeetna tickets are limited, so call quickly if you want to grab a taste and support local businesses — all while having some fun.
