It’s Jail-Time Déjà Vu For This Business Owner!

The owner of two employee staffing companies in Maryland, Jonas Purisch, was sentenced to three years in prison for failing to pay the IRS more than two million dollars in employment taxes he collected from his employees.

Purisch withheld the taxes between 2018 and 2021 after already having been convicted in 2013 of filing a false tax return. For that crime, he was sentenced to three months in prison.

In addition to the prison sentence for failing to pay the employment (941) taxes, Purisch was ordered to pay the IRS 3.4 million dollars in restitution.
