The First Ever, Strawberry Festival and ButteAthlon: A weekend of Farm-fresh fun, fitness, and festivities

PALMER — This weekend is the first annual Strawberry Festival, hosted by the Pyrah's Pioneer Peak Farm. The festivities will be Friday and Saturday from 1-9 p.m. This summer solstice event is catered to families with an assortment of live music and other activities throughout the day. There will be vendors selling goods at the Crazy Rooster Market & Arts Fair; as well as hayrides, bounce houses and various other games and activities for the kids, and a dance later in the evening.

On Friday there will be a 5k Farm Fun Run at 7 pm, and live music performed by local artists, Carhart brothers (1 pm) and Flintlock Special (4 pm), with a special guest performance by Chris Jamison at 8 pm. Jamison was a third-place finisher on NBC’s The Voice.

Saturday is the ButteAthlon, a triathlon race involving running, hiking and biking. Racers will begin at the farm and run 2.5 miles to the Butte, hike up one side then down the other and run back to farm and bike twice around Bodenburg Loop.

Also, local artists, Tanana Rafters (1 pm) and Eslie King (4 pm) will be performing at the farm.

“What we strive to do at the farm is to provide family oriented activities and to get people into the outdoors and enjoy nature, enjoy the farm and enjoy each other,” said Trisha Beames, project manager for Pyrah’s Pioneer Peak Farm.

$5 General Admission per day for all the activities, including the concert.

Bib Pick up is at Pyrah's Pioneer Peak Farm, located at 4350 S. Bodenburg Loop.

A few important items for you before the race:

• Race Bibs MUST be picked up prior to the event. There will be NO race day registration. Race bibs will not be given out the day of the Triathlon event. For your convenience, we will have two dates and times available for you to pick up your bibs (see dates/times posted above).

• Individuals must pick up their own bibs and may not pick up a bib for another race participant. The only exception to this rule is a parent picking up for a child, or family member picking up for an IMMEDIATE family member (spouse, child, sibling, parent).

• Please review all race rules and other race information prior to race day.

• Check-In for race day begins at 6:30 AM, June 24th and will close PROMPTLY at 7:30 AM. Please plan accordingly and check in prior to the 7:30 AM close time. Participants not checked in prior to 7:30 AM will be disqualified.

• All Bikes must be in the staging are by 7:30 AM. The bike staging area will open at 6:30 AM and close at 7:30 SHARP No one will be allowed into the bike area after 7:30 AM, NO EXCEPTIONS

• All participants must be at the START LINE of the race, ready to race by 7:50 AM. A short pre-race briefing will be given at this time.

• Race time begins at 8:00 AM SHARP
