WASILLA — Valley Arts Alliance performed the Season 2 premier episode of “Alaska Home Companion — A Frontier Variety Show” in front of a packed house Oct. 19 at the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry.

The performance pays tribute to National Public Radio’s long-running radio show “A Prairie Home Companion”

The variety show featured interesting stories by Alaskans about the best, the worst and the silliest of everyday living in Alaska, including appearances by Roving Reporter, Amelia Bearhart and Guy d’North, as well as news from Lake Willowa and Mukluk Radio.

Featured guests introduced by Randi Perlman were Bill Bear, Sandra Cook, Matt Hammer and Mz Lona, Georgie Hollander, Ann and Ray Lyon, Alice Palen, Niki Pease, Nan Potts, Hillary Saffran, A.J. Seims, John Stroup, Carmen Summerfield, and Pat and Sean Wake.

The production crew included Josh Fryfogle and Terry Koch, and Mike Chmielewski of KVRF 89.5FM. The Season 2 premier episode was “sponsored” by Downdraft Airlines, Swann’s Duck Tape and a variety of old-time Alaska merchants.
