Tickets are on sale now for Rotary’s “Uncorked, Red, Whites and Brews Festival,” scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m., Oct. 12 at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla.
Half of the proceeds from the annual fundraiser will be donated to MY House as part of the Rotary Club of Wasilla’s three-year commitment to help the newly established non-profit find solutions to the homeless youth crisis in the Mat-Su Valley.
The fundraiser includes tapas from local chefs paired with premier beer and wines. The event also includes a raffle for 100 bottles of wine and 100 bottles of beer.
“Rotary Uncorked has grown to become the Valley’s premier wine event since its inception in 2009,” Rotary President Daryl Lowe said. “We are particularly proud of this event because of how it now benefits local groups like MY House.”
In conjunction with Palmer Rotarians, last year the event raised more than $11,000 for MY House.
The group’s commitment to MY House is a year-round effort. In January, the 38-member club equipped MY House’s outreach van. This summer, members joined with fellow Valley Rotary clubs to provide appliance grants for MY House’s Gathering Place. The club created holiday break survival kits in 2011 and 2012 and provided scholarships in 2013.
In addition, Rotarian Holly Gittlein serves on the board of directors for MY House.
