MAT-SU — Two of this year’s Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities went to recognize the arts in the Mat-Su Valley.
Valley Performing Arts and Palmer artist Gail Niebrugge are among the honorees at the 2012 Governor’s Awards ceremony Oct. 18 at the Captain Cook Hotel. VPA received this year’s Governor’s award as Arts Organization and Niebrugge was honored as the Individual Artist.
VPA Executive Director Garry Forrester said the honor couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.
“This recognition validates us in so many ways and is a reflection of your support and dedication as well as all of the other volunteers that work so tirelessly to ensure that VPA is successful,” Forrester said.
