Van Zyle to sign artwork at Iditarod restart

WILLOW — Artist Jon Van Zyle — Official Artist of the Iditarod — will sign prints of the 2014 Iditarod Print and Poster from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 2 at the Town Square Gallery booth in the Willow Community Center, at the Iditarod re-start.

Not only is Van Zyle is the official artist of the Iditarod, he also is a two-time race veteran and a member of the Iditarod Hall of Fame (2004). This year’s print, “Nod to the Past,” features a musher surrounded by his best friends (his dogs) and memories of the good times.

The 2014 poster, “Heroes,” honors the real heroes of the — the dogs. Van Zyle says, “God created dogs so that at least mushers can have a hero. They are the real athletes.”
