Wasilla air show rescheduled for Saturday

WASILLA — An air show in celebration of the centennial of flight in Alaska has been rescheduled for Saturday.

A number of local pilots will participate in the show from 1 to 3 p.m., July 27 at Wasilla Airport.

A number of local pilots — including Joe Stanger and George Murphy from Willow — have announced plans to fly their classic birds in the show. Stanger plans to fly his Gullwing Stinson, which was once owned by Noel Wein. Murphy will fly down in his Sedan, the only plane he’s ever owned.

The Alaska Air Show Association has planned several air shows around Alaska this summer in celebration of Alaska’s 100th anniversary of flight.

Also on display will be a pair of T-6s, a Japanese Zero and an American Pilgrim.

An aerial demonstration also will be conducted as traffic and weather permit, and the association will provide posters for pilot autographs.

For a fee, rides in the vintage aircraft and war birds also are available.
