The Wasilla Postal Annex will extend its hours, starting Monday, Oct. 28.
The annex will be open 16.5 hours more per week. The Wasilla post office has seen a 23 percent increase in packages this year, according to the United States Postal Service. As of Monday, the annex will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until further notice. USPS also said there will be an additional parcel lockers at the annex and main office as soon as possible, and additional staff will be hired to assist with the influx of packages during the holiday season.
“Our dedicated employees are working hard to keep up with the tremendous growth in population and packages in the Wasilla area,” Manager of Post Office Operations Candace Kvale said in a press release issued by USPS. “Despite adding staff, a new package pick up window and dozens of parcel lockers for convenience in picking up packages without going to the counter, keeping up with the 23 percent package growth in Wasilla in the last year alone has been a challenge. We apologize to those customers who have experienced long wait times.
“We continue to closely monitor the situation and will make adjustments as necessary to ensure our customers receive the timely and reliable service they deserve.”
