WASILLA — Rotary Club of Wasilla will host a fair trade and handcrafted jewelry sale Sept. 27-28 to support Solace International, a grassroots aid organization with Alaska roots.
Last year, Wasilla Rotary’s “Shop For A Cause” fundraiser generated $9,212 for Solace International.
The gala will feature handcrafted gemstone jewelry, textiles and crafts from Solace’s international cottage industry projects.
This year’s event will support Solace’s Syrian Refugee School in Lebanon.
Solace International Executive Director Nate York is a former Alaskan who now travels internationally working to build schools and create sustainable projects.
Each year, York comes to Alaska to meet with Solace’s Alaska-based board of directors and show jewelry and crafts at local fundraisers.
York will share his experiences traveling to Lebanon to assist Syrian refugees at noon, Sept. 25 at the Wasilla Rotary lunch meeting at the Grand View Inn. The public is invited.
Rotary Club of Wasilla will host a sale to benefit Solace from 2 to 8 p.m., Sept. 27 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 28 at Town Square Art Gallery in the Carrs Mall in Wasilla.
