A “winter weather advisory” for the Matanuska Valley remains in effect from 5 a.m., Friday to 5 a.m., Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Anchorage. The advisory warns of snow and freezing rain and includes the cities of Chickaloon, Palmer, Sutton and Wasilla.
The weather service reports warmer temperatures are expected to prevail and snow will turn to freezing rain early Friday morning. Snow returns Friday evening along with colder temperatures, the weather service says.
The forecast calls for 3 to 7 inches of snow accumulation and up to .2 inches of ice accumulation possible. Travel may be impaired by slippery roads and limited visibility, according to the advisory.
