‘Who Let the Girls Out’ returns April 25-26

PALMER — What’s been described by some downtown Palmer merchants as the biggest business day of the year will again draw crowds of women to the Valley next month.

Organizer Denise Statz said this is the fourth year she’s planned the event to celebrate breakup and bring shoppers to downtown Palmer. Fun is the focus of the “Who Let the Girls Out” event planned April 25-26, she said.

“If it’s not fun, it’s not good,” Statz said.

She said the two-day festival begins April 25 with the Valley Women’s Running Team’s second annual 5-K run/walk. And that evening, Janet Stotts will conduct the Cantora Arctica’s Spring Concert at St. John Lutheran Church in Palmer.

The fun resumes April 26 when Backcountry Bike and Ski hosts its fourth annual Spring Classic.

And new this year, Statz has planned a “get your junk out of the trunk” sale. Women can apply for one of a few dozen spots downtown where they can pop their trunk lids and sell their good used treasures. To apply to get your junk out, call 982-3363.

Statz said she has a set of pillows in mind that would be perfect for the trunk event. She said she received them as a gift, but they don’t match her decorating scheme and she’s eager to re-home them.

“They’re just too gorgeous for me,” she said.

Other activities planned include live music, food vendors, wine tasting, classes and a seed exchange.

“We definitely want this to be fun,” Statz said.
