The Talkeetna Bachelor Society will host its 28th annual Wilderness Woman Contest and the 33d annual Bachelor Auction on Dec. 7. The fun begins on Dec. 6 with a Festival of Lights Parade at 6 p.m. After the parade at the VFW, gather for a meet and greet with the “Male Order Catalog” for autographs, “Mating Game” with a celebrity host and fireworks. A full day of fun is planned for Saturday. Here’s the schedule:
• 9 a.m. to noon — Biscuits and gravy, sponsored by VFW Post 3836 Ladies Auxiliary on Veterans Way.
• 11 a.m. — Wilderness Woman Contest registration ($5 entry fee) begins at the Fairview Inn.
• 11:30 a.m. — Bachelors welcome the train at the Village Depot behind the Fairview Inn.
• 1 p.m. — Wilderness Woman Contest begins on Main Street.
• 6 p.m. — Doors open at the Denali Arts Council’s Sheldon Arts Hangar for the Bachelor Auction. Must be 21 and show ID. General Admission is $20.
• 7 p.m. — Wilderness Woman Contest winner and runners-up will be crowned, followed by the Bachelor Auction. The Bachelor Ball at the Fairview Inn will follow the auction. Music by Woodrow.
An After Party is planned at the TeePee, and the Talkeetna Roadhouse will open at midnight for breakfast. Bachelor Society also will provide sober rides that night.
