William (Bill) Alfred Aube

William (Bill) Alfred Aube, 68, passed away in Palmer, Alaska on June 30, 2022 due to a heart attack. Bill was born on September 23, 1954 in Alpena, MI to George and Kathryn Aube. He graduated from Alpena High School, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, and his master’s degree from Catholic University in Washington D.C. Bill loved his life in Alaska with his wife, kids, and grandkids.

Upon graduation from high school, Bill joined the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, he was stationed in Alaska at Elmendorf Air Force Base, where he fell in love with the state and the love of his life, Carol Ryan-Aube. Bill and Carol were married on November, 28th 1980. Together they raised their four children, Patrick, Anne, Meggie, and Sean. Bill was the most supportive husband and father. He completely devoted his life to his wife, kids, and grandkids. He adored playing with his four young grandchildren and bringing them on tractor rides around the yard.

Second to his family, his life’s work was as a social worker. He spent his entire career working with mentally ill adults in the Mat-Su and Anchorage communities as the Executive Director of Daybreak, Inc. His generous nature, kind spirit, problem solving skills, and compassionate soul permeated everything he did. His legacy is the improved quality of life that he helped every one of his clients, friends, and family find. His work in the mental health field will forever impact the lives of so many Alaskans.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carol Ryan-Aube; four children, Patrick (Delphine) Ryan, Anne Aube, Meggie (Justin) Aube-Trammell, and Sean (Joy) Aube; four grandchildren, Joshua Ryan, Graham and Arthur Aube, and Artemis Trammell; six siblings, Ann Leesberg, Janet (Warren) Swartzinski, Joan Fifelski, Nancy (Jeff) Menger, Marcia Aube, and Carol Aube; and so many amazing nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Tacia, and brothers-in-law, Dave Tacia, Arthur Leesberg, Chris Fifelski, and James Ratz.

In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family is asking that you donate to his lifelong career, Daybreak Inc. Daybreak is a mental health agency that assists mentally ill adults in Palmer, AK. To celebrate the amazing and inspiring life of Bill, his family will be organizing a funeral and celebration at a later date.
