… and 12 laps make a mile…
and I did it!!!
In January, when we began this process, I believe I laughed when Jeremiah told me that soon I would be walking or jogging a mile. Now I am not laughing anymore … because I can and I did do it!!
Last Friday the cardio machine room was fairly busy and I was feeling the need to have a little bit of alone time while I worked out … I headed for the track which was empty at 7 in the morning, and I began walking … and I walked … and well you get the idea. Before I knew it, I had completed 7 laps which is just over a half mile and I was ready to stop. I was a tired person. I had walked at a brisk pace the entire time. Thankfully, I have gained the ability to talk myself into not stopping … and by reminding myself that I had already come farther than I now had left to go I was able to push myself the remaining 5 laps.
Following the mile, I was then able to encourage myself to continue on with some abdominal exercises and some work on a couple of different weight machines — the ones designed to focus on the abdominal region especially. To wrap it up I did some time on the treadmill with the intervals turned on. This has quickly become my new favorite way of utilizing these machines - the machine automatically changes up your incline so that you have to work harder and then not as hard at a set interval. Again a couple of months ago I would have said I would never use the machines this way — but look at me now!
As this competition winds down I really hope you all are having good success too. If you haven't had the greatest success just yet … keep trying and soon you will see you can do more and more and you can withstand things that you never thought you could, I know I have amazed myself and others too - Here is to continued success for you all and us too!!
Until Next Time,
Amber
