WILLOW — An ongoing investigation into reports of dogs allegedly being mistreated has resulted in the seizure of a dozen husky-mix dogs.
The dogs are among 14 found Thursday at a property near Mile 90 of the Parks Highway, said Mat-Su Borough Animal Care Manager Phil Morgan. He said his office, along with Alaska State Troopers, executed a search warrant on a property off East Sheep Drive in the Montana Creek area.
“Based on the findings (of the search), 12 dogs were removed from the property and placed in protective custody at the animal care facility,” Morgan said, adding the condition of the seized dogs is “not good.”
Because an investigation into the situation with the animals continues, Morgan declined to identify the owner. He said charges may be pending, but have not yet been filed.
