WASILLA — The 1st Saturday Vendor Market is hosting a two day event in May, celebrating Mother’s Day while wrapping up their annual shopping season.
Casey Kruger and her husband FJay established the 1st Saturday Vendor Market in 2020. Their season runs from October through May, featuring a wide variety of local vendors and food trucks that gather at the Mat-Su Borough Gym each month.
“We try to focus on Alaska made and handmade as much as we can,” Kruger said.
There will be 30 vendors and food trucks featured in the May market.
“It’s going to be a great event,” Kruger said.
Kruger said they set out to create a welcoming space for local small business owners to highlight their goods and services after starting up their own barbecue sauce company, Fox Sauce LLC.
“We’ve made so many good friends. It’s kind of like a really nice vendor family that we all kind of built,” Kruger said.
Kruger said they’ve received a lot of positive feedback from participating vendors and members of the community as their overall foot traffic continues to grow.
“It’s been wonderful. We’re really getting our name out there,” Kruger said.
The final 1st Saturday Vendor Market of the season runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 7 and May 8.
