2 plane crash survivors plucked from Knik Glacier

KNIK GLACIER — The Alaska Air National Guard says it plucked two plane crash survivors off the Knik Glacier Friday.

According to a press release from the Alaska Air National Guard, the Federal Aviation Administration reported the plane went down with two people on board Friday afternoon.

Within minutes, the guard sent a Pave Hawk helicopter with two rescuers onboard.

“We didn’t know what the status was of the crash victims,” Maj. Karl Westerlund, the 11th Rescue Coordination Center director said in a press release.

Apparently both were unhurt but were flown to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.
