2 sought in armed robbery

WASILLA -- Alaska State Troopers are searching for two men who pulled off a daylight armed robbery at a residence last week.

Trooper Eric Lorring said two men entered the house off Johnson Road about 2:30 p.m. Thursday and held the homeowner at bay with a gun. One told the homeowner to get on the ground, covering him with a gun while another man searched the house, according to Lorring.

The robbers were in the house for 10 or 15 minutes, he said.

Items with a combined value of $2,700 were taken, although troopers did not detail exactly what was taken. The homeowner was scared, but not injured.

Lorring said the men were white, and described as being from 20 to 30 years old. They wore ski masks and, although part of their faces was showing, the victim couldn't get a detailed look at them, Lorring said.

"Our victim was traumatized," he said.

The men wore dark green mechanic's coveralls, he said. They apparently escaped on foot rather than in a vehicle, the trooper said.

A trooper report did not indicate how the men gained access to the house. An investigation is continuing.

Troopers also reported two burglaries in Wasilla, both of which continue to be investigated.

On Friday, a homeowner told troopers that someone entered the house been 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and took a 12-inch television, a VCR, Nintendo and 20 VCR tapes. Total value was estimated at $400.

On Saturday, troopers responded to a residence on Day Road after the occupant said $700 had been taken from a bedroom dresser. The theft occurred sometimes between 10 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday, troopers said.
