WASILLA— The Alaska Vintage Home Market is set for the weekend of May 15 at the Alaska State Fairgrounds.
This annual three-day market features a wide variety of local vendors and food trucks. According to event organizers James Embree, a vast majority of the products available are locally made.
Embree said there are over 150 vendors, including dozens of food trucks participating in this year’s event. He said that each vendor designs their own unique booth to draw in customers.
“It's fun to see all the vendors who put their time, effort, and creativity into their booth to sell their stuff. It’s just neat to see all the cool stuff that people have created,” Embree said. “We're not the only market that's out there, but without markets like ours, a lot of businesses couldn't exist… It's a pretty big deal for them."
Alaska Chicks Co. established The Alaska Vintage Market in 2015. James and Ella Embree took over the event in 2020. He said they made it through their first event in spite of the challenges from the pandemic. He said they’re thankful to be able to put on a full and lively event this year.
“It's going to be bigger and better than ever,” Embree said.
Embree said they hold a spring and winter market. He said they average between 8,000 to 10,000 visitors throughout the weekend.
