2022 Sled for Hope event Saturday

WASILLA — Alaska Campus of Adult and Teen Challenge Pacific Northwest is hosting the 2022 Sled for Hope snowmachine ride Saturday, March 19.

Sled for Hope participants will start out of the Willow Community Center for a ride that spans over 70 miles. Participants will make their way to Talkeetna for lunch and loop back to Willow for the finish.

This event serves as a fundraiser for Alaskan Adult and Teen Challenge addiction recovery programs, according to center director Mahlon Troyer. He said this is the fifth event they’ve put on, and they manage to rally a large number of participants each year.

“To see all the people that come together that are behind putting hope within reach of every addict— our motto is exactly that— to see a ride like this come together with all sorts of different people and all walks of life come together for our ministry is huge,” Troyer said.

Alaskan Adult and Teen Challenge is a faith-based organization that offers residential care to young people and adults who struggle with life-controlling problems such as addiction. Troyer said it’s all about helping their clients “find the healing that God can provide to them.”

“We’re trying to help them see the value they have,” Troyer said.

Sled for Hope participants will gather for a banquet dinner and prizes. The one who raised the most amount of money will win a 2022 Skidoo Summit SP 850 E-Tec from Team CC.
