WASILLA— The 2023 Iditarod race kicks off with the Ceremonial Start in Anchorage Saturday, March 4 at 10 a.m.

The race officially begins during the restart at the Willow Community Center Sunday, March 5 at 2 p.m.

Mushers will embark on the long and arduous journey from Willow to Nome with a huge crowd of spectators from around the world cheering them on.

The Iditarod typically alternates between the Northern Route on even years and the Southern Route on odd years.

Racers will follow the Southern Route this year, venturing nearly 1,000 miles through the harsh, cold, and unforgiving Alaskan wilderness.
