WASILLA — The 2023 Jr. Iditarod begins Saturday, Feb. 25.

The 2023 race trail is 150 miles long. Mushers will depart from Knik Lake at 10 a.m. They will make their way through Eagle Quest, and continue to the halfway point at Yentna Station Roadhouse for a 10 hour layover. They will travel along the same route as they race back to Knik Lake the following day.

The Jr. Iditarod draws strong, skilled and dedicated athletes from across the state to compete. For many, it's an opportunity to train for the race’s adult counterpart in the future.

“These Junior Iditarod mushers are the future of mushing. We just hope to keep this race going,” race organizer Barb Redington told the Frontiersman.
