You have done your duty and passed an energy relief package to help Alaskans with the high cost of fuel.
You decided that not all Alaskans should be given this help by proclaiming that only those who have applied for the PFD for 2008 would be eligible.
What about the rest of us? Those who came to (back) Alaska and have established residency in every other way except eligibility for the PFD?
After living here during the 1980s we moved Outside, returning to Alaska in April of 2007. I am retired but my wife is working for an Alaska company. We built a home, purchasing all of the materials from Alaska vendors. We hired Alaska contractors. Alaska companies have been paid for the utilities. We purchase Alaska gasoline to travel to work, church and shopping in Alaska stores. We contribute to the Alaska economy with our income, some of which did not come from Alaska.
All this and now you are telling us that we do not deserve to participate in the energy relief program.
Do you have the courage to publicly give an answer to this and tell us that we are second-class residents?
