PALMER — There are three more opportunities to visit the 2023 Friday Fling.
Friday Fling is an annual outdoor marketplace managed by the Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce. It's located in downtown Palmer near the library and museum, and features an array of local vendors selling a variety of goods ranging from farm-fresh produce to handmade gifts. It also features live music performed by local artists each week.
"Friday Fling is a 20 plus year old event that brings people together to celebrate and enjoy our community's entrepreneurs, chefs, musicians, and more," Palmer Chamber Executive Director Ailis Vann said. "I always see friends and acquaintances and it makes my heart happy to see everyone out enjoying Palmer."
According to Vann, the overall attendance has been going well in spite of the cool weather that's been prevalent this summer.
"It's always great to see the influx of visitors and the locals coming out to visit and support everyone," Vann said.
Over 100 vendors have participated in Friday Fling over the course of the 2023 season. Vann said the unfavorable weather conditions haven't deterred dedicated locals looking for an enjoyable summer activity that's suitable for all ages, and there's been an overall increase in foot traffic compared to previous seasons.
"Vendors are reporting seeing more visitors than the last couple of years. They all wish the weather could be better," Vann said.
With three more Friday Flings left, there's still time to shop from local vendors, try snacks and meals from local food trucks, and listen to enjoy live music and other activities at the popular summer destination.
"It's always sad when the season comes to an end, and it seems to go by faster each year. We hope to see everyone these next few weeks," Vann said.
