A trio of Valley programs finished in the top five of the team standings, during the Houston Altercation, the first prep wrestling meet of the 2023 season.
Palmer led Valley squads with a 171 total points and a third-place finish. Wasilla (157) and Colony (155) followed in fourth and fifth.
Cody Vanseigman (145 pounds), Kayson Asay (160), Carter Paulson (189) and Harley Watkins (215) each finished third in their class to lead the Moose.
Wasilla placed eight grapplers in the top three. Deshawn Campbell (160) and James Lackey (215) won their weight class. Achilles Alexander (112), Chase Foss (119) and Thailyn Reynolds (130) placed second. Elijah Allen (112), Joseph Spangler (119) and Pedro Camacho (170) were third.
Asher Clayton (119) and Matthew Mitchell (130) won their weight classes to lead Colony.
The Knights also netted three first-place finishes in the girls class. Bayleigh Harrington (132), Kaitlyn Cottrell (138) and Gia Jones (185) placed first, and Adriane Furlong finished second.
Avery Long (128) and Noelle Buck (235) won their weight classes to lead the Palmer girls. Antoinette Sarren (128) placed second for the Moose, and Lillie Van Siegman (132), Nena Trout (138) and Selene Farris (145) were third.
Mya Rhodes-Hunison (165) led the Redington girls with a second-place finish and Ellen Larson (152) was third to lead the Wasilla girls.
