37 WHS students included in poetry anthology

Wasilla High School had 37 students’ poems picked for inclusion in Creative Communication’s anthology “A Celebration of Poets: Spring 2011.”

Wasilla High also received a Writing Achievement Award for the Spring 2011 Poetry Contest. It’s an award given to schools whose student’s entries were exceptional.

Top 10 winners will receive more than $2,000 in money and gifts, according to Wasilla High English teacher Brandy Peterson.

The following Wasilla students were selected for publication: Christian Newby, Celina Duffy, Rita Bondarev, Allison Boyd, Braven Carter, Jordan Childers, Patrick Clark, Kyle Dickerson, Vernon Edwards, Jasper Fischer, Samantha Glick, Jennifer Harrell, Corey Hogan, Jonathan Ibarra, Brittney Kirby, Amy Lacher, Shadde Lamay, John Lamont, Morgan McVeigh, Dalayon Miles, Ashley Moitoso, Taylor Moitoso, Shannon Moore, Chance Morrison, Michele Newman, Abigail Osborne, Jacque Osborne, Jordan Smith, Rebekah Smith, Raemi Starr, Ciera Thompson, Khanady Vue, Macaela Wolfe, Tyler Wolfe, Natasha Youngblut, Judith Zickefoose-Edwards and Michael Clark.
