PALMER — The Alaska Chicks are at it again. This Saturday and Sunday is the Alaska Chicks Company’s Vintage Home Market. The market will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Raven Hall and Hoskins buildings on the Alaska State Fairgrounds will be the places to be for holiday shoppers, vintage lovers, crafty consumers, and the whole family. There will be almost 100 vendors selling locally made goods, an array of Alaskan musicians will be performing throughout the two day event. Tasty treats and refreshments will be avaialbe from Alaska Soda Jerk, Sweetie Pie Deep Fried Pies, the Waffles and Whatnot truck outside and others. Winona Benson from Nourished Health Coaching Services will be leading holiday cooking demonstrations. Jolly Saint Nick will also make an appearance. Visitors can take a selfie with Santa and his live reindeer (10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday).

WASILLA — Archers rejoice. There is festive bow and arrow event taking place this Saturday at 5 p.m. The Screaming Eagle Archery of Alaska is hosting the Turkey Fun Shoot competition. Archers can shoot arrows paper turkeys stuck to pumpkins. According to their event page, there will be three classifications: Traditional, Bowhunter and Freestyle.
For each category, the winner will choose either a turkey or ham for a prize, second place will choose whichever meat the winner didn’t pick and third place gets a homemade pie. Children and adults will compete together in this Thanksgiving themed shoot off. Those who don’t have a bow can rent a Genesis Bow, a beginner’s bow that is a mix between a compound and traditional style.
The Screaming Eagle Archery of Alaska range is located at 210 Park Ave. The event cost is $15 per shooter. Each archer will use three three arrows per round for 10 rounds. There is a limit to 40 people for this event. There is a sign up sheet at the range. To reserve a spot, call 907-376-2699. PALMER — This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. is the Valley Fiber Arts Guild’s Out of the Box Sale. The sale will take place at the Palmer Train Depot. This is the Guild’s only commercial event of the year. This will be a chance to acquire some high quality, handmade items made by passionate fiber artists. There will be a wide selection of items including Christmas ornaments, scarves, hats, mittens, socks, sweaters, hand woven towels, and much more! Hand spun yarn is available for sale as well. There will also be some guest artisans who joining in and selling their handmade items.
The Valley Fiber Arts Guild is a not-for-profit organization that’s brought fiber enthusiasts together since 1983. WASILLA — This Saturday from 5 to 9:30 p.m. is the Rest and Relaxation Workshop. AK Barre & Soul will host the workshop at Northern Edge Physical Therapy, located at 984 North Meridian Plaza. AK Barre & Soul is an exercise that designed to be adaptable to all ages, lifestyles and body types. AK Barre & Soul classes are a unique combination of yoga, Pilates and barre. The exercise is a holistic approach to achieve better health both physically and mentally. During the workshop, there will be a 30 minute barre class.
After the barre class, they will showcase an assortment of suggested rest and relaxation techniques and practices. The workshop will conclude with a trauma release method which is said to be “highly effective but still private and personalized.” There will be snacks and beverages on site. Visitors are asked to dress in layers and comfortable clothing, and are also asked to bring a blanket.

PALMER — The Glenn Massay Theater is kicking off the Holiday season with their Trees of the Valley event this Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. There will be an assortment of family activities, including pictures with Santa and a live reindeer. There will also be live music and tasty holiday treats. Inside the theater, Disney’s “The Santa Clause” will be playing on the big screen. Inside the Glenn Massay lobby will be a showcase of local businesses, united under the holiday theme. Admission is free of charge.
