WASILLA — Wasilla Mayor Glenda Ledford issued a mayoral proclamation recognizing the 55th Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week recognized during the regularly scheduled Wasilla City Council meeting Monday, April 22.

This year’s Professional Municipal Clerks Week takes place from May 5, 2024 to May 11.

Ledford described the municipal clerk office as a “time honored and vital part of local government,” and indicated that the Office of the Professional Municipal Clerk is the “oldest among public servants.”

“The Office of the Municipal Clerk provides the professional link between the citizens, the local governing bodies, and agencies of government at other levels,” Ledford said as she read the proclamation. “Professional Municipal Clerks have pledged to be ever mindful of their neutrality and impartiality, rendering equal service to all.”

Ledford indicated that professional municipal clerks act as information centers regarding local government and community functions. She expressed the City of Wasilla’s gratitude for its local clerks and listed them off by name.

“Professional Municipal Clerks continually strive to improve the administration of the affairs of the Office of the Municipal Clerk through participation in education programs, seminars, workshops, and the annual meetings of their state and international professional organizations… It is most appropriate that we recognize the accomplishments of the Office of the Municipal Clerk… and further extend appreciation to our Municipal Clerks, Jamie Newman, MMC, Sarah Stanifer, MMC, and Crystal Nguyen, Administrative Aide to the City Clerk, for the services they perform and their exemplary dedication to the City of Wasilla.”
