The 55th Operations Group’s Detachment 1 hosted an assumption-of-command ceremony Jan. 17 marking the formal beginning of U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Kelsey Bryant’s command.
In July 2023, the detachment was established at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to serve as a strategic launch-and-recovery point for RC-135V/W Rivet Joint operations, due to increasing combatant command and national intelligence requirements in the Indo-Pacific region. Though the unit still reports to the 55th Operations Group at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, the presence of a dedicated detachment at JBER allows a faster response to emerging requirements.
