Gov. Mike Dunleavy and Alaska Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anne Zink announced 13 new positive COVID-19 cases and Alaska’s seventh coronavirus-related death during a press conference Wednesday evening in Anchorage.
The 13 additional positives included the Mat-Su Borough’s fifth COVID-19 cases.
“Unfortunately we did have another individual pass away,” Dunleavy said.
Zink said the deceased is an Anchorage woman in her 40s.
“We believe she obtained this disease in Anchorage,” Zink said.
There are now 226 total cases in Alaska. Of those, five are in the Mat-Su Borough, with four in Palmer and one in Wasilla. The new Mat-Su case is in Palmer and not travel related. There were also six new cases in both Anchorage and Fairbanks reported Wednesday.
