Though the weather is chilly, the fun and games and food to be found at the 62nd annual Willow Carnival might be enough to chase away the cold.
The carnival kicks off Friday with the Kick Off dinner and a night, as visitors can watch artists create masterpieces onstage, take their chances the Silent Auction, and watch to see who will be crowned the Carnival King and Queen. Rounding out the evening will be a spectacular Gorilla Fireworks Show in front of the community center.
Saturday features human and dog powered events outdoors, including several dog mushing races, skiing, skijoring, touring, Saturday night, events move inside with the Fire & Ice Family Dance sponsored by the Willow-Caswell Fire Dept.
Sunday’s outdoor events features several snow machine events: Kid’s Snocross, radar (speed) run, blind driver and the always popular poker run. And there is always the pick-up snow shoe softball game. And of course, the popular Outhouse Race is on Sunday, too.
Other carnival events include the Homesteader events and several active kids games, cribbage tournament, and the snowshoe scavenger hunt, to name a few.
For those who need a break from the bite of chill in the air, there are vendors with bites of food, warm beverages, and vendors offering their wares in the auditorium with stage acts to watch and a delicious short order kitchen menu to choose from.
