James Albert Downs and Marjorie O’Neal Downs were married at the United States Military Academy June, 6 1944 — the same day James graduated from the academy and on D-Day, the day the Allies invaded Western Europe in World War II.Bruce and Kenneth Downs are their sons. Bruce is married to Bonna N. Downs of Palmer. Grandchildren are Bruce’s daughter Jan Kathryn Downs of Radford, Va. Kenneth’s son is Joshua N. Downs of Anchorage.
