WASILLA — An 8-year old was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries following a Monday evening accident.
According to an Alaska State Troopers online dispatch, the accident occurred around 7:44 p.m. at the intersection of Knik-Goose Bay and Vine roads. According to reports, the youth was riding his bicycle when he approached the intersection, entered the roadway, and was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 50-year old Wasilla woman.
Troopers state an investigation revealed the child entered the roadway when the crosswalk sign indicated a “Don’t Walk” signal. Police say the driver was wearing a seatbelt and that alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the accident.
