8th-grader to represent PJMS at state bee

PALMER — Palmer Junior Middle School had 96 spellers compete in the All School Spelling Bee. Eighth-grader Ben Almeida won the school-level spelling bee and the opportunity to compete in the State Spelling Bee Feb. 28 in Anchorage.

Seventh-grader Libby Scott is the first runner up. Other top 10 finishers are: eighth-grader, P.J. Cutright; seventh-grader, Lucas Adams; seventh-grader, Juan Casillas; eighth-grader, Steve Duncan; sixth-grader, Candace Barron; sixth-grader, Lydia Ortiz; seventh-grader, Angel Kordeva; seventh-grader, Maia Gimm; and seventh-grader, Libby Scott.
