WASILLA — There are several focused on paying tribute to the lives lost Sept. 11, 2001 scheduled across the Mat-Su Valley.
Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Susitna Post 9365 invites the public to honor the lives lost during 9/11 with a flag retirement ceremony starting Monday at 5 p.m. Patriot BBQ and possibly other food trucks will be onsite starting at 4 p.m. For more information, call 907-376-5820 or visit VFW9365.org.
American Legion Post 35 is hosting a flag ceremony for 9/11 starting Monday at 7:15 p.m. Local fire engines flying the American flag will be present. Wasilla Mayor Glenda Ledford and other city officials will also attend the event. For more information, call 907-376-3500.
Get Moving Mat-Su is hosting the Never Forget Run Sunday, Sept. 10 at Denali Fitness to honor the live lost on Sept. 11, 2001 by walking, strolling, or bicycling with other members of the the community to raise funds for Alaska's Healing Hearts. Alaska State Troopers, Wasilla Police Department, local EMS crew members, local firefighters, and other first responders will be present during the event.
