MAT-SU — Nine prep baseball players from the Mat-Su Valley were named All-Southcentral Conference recently.
Colony, the Southcentral Conference regular-season champions, led Valley squads with five players on the first and second teams.
Colter Peterson, Matt Packa and Rhowe Stefanski were each named to the first team for the Knights. The first-team selections represented the top-three of Colony’s starting rotation. Peterson also played first, Packa played third and Stefanski was a regular in left field.
The trio were also among Colony’s top hitters.
First baseman and pitcher Mike Wagner and right fielder JD Mayo were named second team.
Mayo hit second in the order for the Knights. Wagner hit double-digits in relief appearances on the mound, and did not allow an earned run until the state tournament.
The group helped lead Colony to a 10-3 overall record during the regular season and 9-0 mark in conference play.
Tommy Rodamer, who helped lead the Wasilla Warriors to a 7-5 regular-season record, was also named first-team. Rodamer’s teammate, David Green, was named second team.
Palmer catcher and pitcher Tim Rockey led the Moose with a first-team nod. PHS shortstop Tommy Brown was named to the second team.
