Our freedom-loving founding fathers were the first group of men in the history of the world who removed the chains from the people and put them on government. Throughout the first half of the 19th century, Americans never crossed paths with a federal bureaucracy. In foreign affairs we minded our own business while unsurpassed freedom and prosperity flourished at home.
According to Thomas DiLorenzo, by 1860, “Nearly every state constitution prohibited the use of tax dollars for internal improvement subsidies, and federal subsidies had never materialized for constitutional reasons as well.”
The reason? Thorough corruption, buying of votes and creeping socialism.
Uncle Ted (Sen. Ted Stevens) has made a career out of unconstitutional subsidies, or earmarks, a euphemism for stealing the earnings of Americans. His unlawful votes, spanning decades, have contributed to the national debt, now more than $8 trillion with interest payments of nearly $1 billion a day — a legacy our kids will enjoy. Instead of using his seniority to serve as an unwavering ethical template of adhering to his oath of office, he has chosen criminal action.
And now an FBI raid on his house. It’s clear. Gov. Sarah Palin needs to call for Stevens’ resignation as she did for Kohring’s. It’s time to remove this parasite on our hard-earned money and reattach the chains on the government through a new senator with unimpeachable integrity.
