To the editor:
Thank you to Mat-Su Assemblyman Jesse Sumner for introducing an apprenticeship utilization ordinance for Borough construction projects. This ordinance will create job and training opportunities for Valley residents while supporting the construction workforce that is important for our local economy.
Not everyone is cut out for college and the debt often required to obtain a degree that would enable a sustainable living. Apprenticeship programs offer young adults the chance to make a competitive wage, obtain health insurance and work toward a future that allows them a dignified retirement.
Today’s construction industry demands a skilled, dependable and safety focused workforce. Apprenticeship programs offer all of the above.
Again, my thanks to Assemblyman Sumner for introducing this important ordinance,
Jimmy Krome
