WASILLA— Alaska Addiction Rehabilitation Services, Inc. is hosting its annual Fun Day event from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.
This free annual event is designed to bring the community together to celebrate recovery while supporting AARS and its clients.
According to a recent press release, this year’s theme is “40 Years of Recovery” and will feature live music, games, family activities, free BBQ, facility tours, door prizes, produce and flower sales, a pie baking contest, and a chance to win big prizes through AARS’ annual raffle. More than 300 people are expected to attend.
“We are ecstatic to be able to host Fun Day in person this year,” AARS Executive Director Bryan Brandenburg stated in the press release. “Our clients and staff have been working hard to put on an amazing event while raising awareness and support for the work AARS does in the community.”
AARS has been serving adults living with substance use disorder (SUD) at its 24-bed residential treatment facility located in the Mat-Su Valley since 1982.
Clients participate in combination of twelve-step recovery coupled with group and individual counseling. They also participate in work therapy by cultivating the farm’s seasonal produce and flowers, tending to the resident farm animals, and maintaining the grounds.
Alaska Addiction Rehabilitation Services is a nonprofit organization that works to provide client-centered quality residential (rehabilitation) treatment services to adults who are chemically dependent and individuals with co-occurring disorders from all regions of Alaska.
