In an update to the death of Wasilla teen Alena Toennis last month, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation released a statement as they continue to thoroughly investigate her suspicious Wasilla.

During the autopsy, it was determined that there were no traumatic injuries to Toennis present. Alaska State Troopers (AST) have spoken with everyone who is involved, including the person who was last seen with her and believe that this is an isolated incident and not random.

In the early morning hours of Friday, November 15, Troopers were notified that the body of a female had been found along a power line trail in Wasilla, near a storage facility. Later, the body was identified as that of 16-year-old Alena Toennis of Wasilla.

Because evidence at the scene suggests that her death may be suspicious, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation has assumed case responsibility.

Investigators are not requesting any assistance from the public at this time and are awaiting forensic and toxicology results that will be crucial to charging determinations.

“We appreciate all of the information that Alaskans have reported and will provide additional information once it becomes available.”
