The Alaska Center for Appropriate Technology, 4701 Begich Circle, Wasilla, is offering a workshop in Wasilla from 7 to 9 p.m., March 25 at the Agate Inn on Commercial Building Energy Efficiency as part of its Net Zero Energy Workshop Series.
Net zero energy means the ability to create as much energy on-site as one consumes by using energy efficient building methods along with renewable energy sources.
Jason Collins, an architect and energy auditor from Palmer, will discuss energy efficiency in commercial buildings, basic LEED concepts and how they overlap. Case studies of energy efficient commercial buildings in Alaska and Canada will be presented, as well as examples of Mat-Su buildings like the new VCRS recycling facility.
