Accident closes road briefly, drivers OK

BIG LAKE — One lane of Big Lake Road was closed briefly around 10:43 a.m., May 4 while Alaska State Troopers and Emergency Services staff responded to a two-vehicle collision at Mile 8.3.

According to an AST report, Elizabeth Peterson, 27 of Wasilla was operating a black 2008 Nissan Titan eastbound on Big Lake Road when she crossed into the oncoming lane of travel and collided with a white 1989 Acura Integra being driven by James Cantine, 49 of Big Lake.

Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene.

All parties reported wearing seat belts and no injuries were initially reported.
