Adam Charles Lentz, 16, passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Wed., Aug. 1, 2001, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Adam was born Feb. 7, 1985, to Roberta (Pyrah) Chalker and Dale Lentz.
He was raised by Roberta and Preston Pyrah in Palmer, among friends and family who had the privilege to watch him grow from a rambunctious little boy into an outstanding young man. Adam was a great asset on his family's bison farm. He also worked with many of his friends on his grandfather's vegetable farm.
He touched many hearts, young and old, and will be sorely missed.
Adam enjoyed playing sports and had just started his sixth football season. He was starting J.V. on both offense and defense at Palmer High School, where he would have been a junior this fall. He was also an All-Star for the Palmer Senior League baseball team, known by his coaches as a team player. Adam's sophomore final GPA was 3.75.
Adam loved music and had been channeling that through his tenor saxophone for the past four years in junior and senior high as well as a summer jazz group performing at the Alaska State Fair. Blasting his Arctic Cat snowmachine through fresh powder with no fear during the snowy winter months was the activity he loved the most.
He was a Boy Scout and a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After high school, he wanted to go to a tech school and become an operational engineer or an architect.
Adam is survived by his parents, Preston and Roberta Pyrah; his little brothers, C.J. and P.J. Pyrah; and numerous grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
His grandmother, Lorene Lentz, preceded him in death.
Adam was laid to rest Mon., Aug. 6, at the Valley Memorial Park in Palmer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Adam Lentz Memorial Fund at the Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union, Palmer, AK 99645.
