Next week, the African Children's Choir will perform in the Valley so kids half a world away will have better lives.
The African Children's Choir is comprised of African children ages seven through 11, most of whom have been orphaned because their parents died of AIDS. They come from the Nkomazi region in the northern part of South Africa.
At their concerts, donations are accepted, which go toward children in Africa.
"They will warm your heart," said Darlana Steunenberg, the group's public relations person. "Their concerts are incredible, and their mission is important."
Their Valley concert is planned for Tuesday, July 20 at Wasilla Assembly of God. There is no charge to attend, but donations are encouraged.
Their concerts are filled with smiles, well-known children's songs, popular gospel music and choreographed music. The choir has been performing for 19 years, with different children throughout the years. It was formed by Ray Barnett.
"The children in the choir represent thousands of children in Africa.
"These children are bright, articulate and motivated to realize their potential," Barnett said. "We believe they can make a difference and we believe that when audiences hear and see Africa through their eyes, they will want to partner with us to give these children every opportunity to succeed and impact their countries.
