WASILLA — Since stripping naked and running from Alaska State Troopers in May, 38-year-old Jeremiah Hoover of Wasilla has been busy.
Hoover, who wandered naked into the mudflats in the Knik-Goose Bay Road area in a prior incident May 16. barricaded himself inside a KGB area residence Thursday evening with four children inside. According to a dispatched published Thursday night, Hoover nailed the door shut. This came after Department of Corrections Pretrial Enforcement Division officers tried to contact Hoover at the residence near Mile 13 Knik-Goose Bay Road, troopers said.
AST and an Alaska Department of Safety Special Emergency Response Team also responded. The SERT unit arrested Hoover at 5:52 p.m., after AST obtained a warrant.
This was the second call that involved Hoover in less than 24 hours. According to a separate dispatch item, troopers received a report just before midnight Wednesday that Hoover had forced himself into a residence off East Knik-Goose Bay Road and assaulted a pair of people at the residence. Hoover fled the scene at a high raid of speed.
The May 16 incident started when AST was called to a Knik-Goose Bay residence where Hoover was reportedly causing a disturbance. According to troopers, the complainant said she was evicting her tenant, Hoover, from a residence. Hoover was violating conditions of his release by being at the residence, troopers said, and fled the scene in a vehicle when approached by troopers.
After fleeing, Hoover left his vehicle, stripped his clothing and wandered into the mudflats near Knik-Goose Bay Road. Several squads tried to search for Hoover, including an AST K9 unit initially, and AST Helo and fire and rescue crews, troopers said. But the search was eventually abandoned, troopers said.
Later that evening, Hoover surrendered to troopers. After surrendering at about 9:15 p.m. that night, Hoover was treated for cold-weather related injuries, according to an AST dispatch.
The initial call came at 2:18 p.m. that day.
Following his arrest Thursday evening, Hoover was taken to Mat-Su Pretrial for violating conditions of his release and held on $10,000 bail. Hoover was still in custody as of Friday, according to online court records.
